I've not been posting so much since I've been a bit stressed about trying to find a new flat. Therefore, pretty much anything people do annoys me, and I can hardly say "The guy next to me sat down really hard in his chair just now! I hate that!"

However, they've recently started a pool tournament at the company on wednesdays (my first game is next week) and the Irish guy next to me had his first match (of two frames) yesterday. This morning I asked if he'd won. He said "I won the second one". In other words, he drew 1-1. Today I've noticed whenever people asked him how he did, he says "I won the second one". Maybe the fact that his opponent was female had something to do with that? Who can say.

Heh heh. One of my previous girlfriends regularly kicked my ass at pool. And I'm no slouch. Oddly enough my current boss didn't take me up on any offers over the summer to go out for drinks after work. We went out with other groups when I was still a student at the school, but that's been a few years.

Maybe it's different because I'm working there now. Funny thing is I ran into a couple of his other employees after I'd gotten smashed in downtown San Jose, and was waiting for a bus to head back home. Of course I'm okay drinking with perfect strangers in a nearby bar, or just by myself if need be.

In my work in market research, I see all sorts of products making all sorts of claims.

Just now I saw a cereal bar which claimed to "delay hunger". No shit! A food that delays hunger?! Modern technology, eh?

And I've noticed that recently the Irish/Spanish guy has been telling any old anecdote to the Greek woman, as long as it starts "I was in the gym last night..."

    Subtle.

I won't be saying much about people I work with for a while, since I'm going on holiday for a week. This may or may not effect my posting abilities.

I'll bet none of his stories go, "I was in the gym last night ogling the women on the treadmill...". Which is what that really interprets into.

So I'm back at work, and the Irish guy and the Greek lady are having breakfast together. She brings it in from home and warms it up in the oven. So, it looks like they're a couple. I mean, when a woman makes you breakfast, then you're together. Apparently, it became a regular thing last week.

The thing is, the Irish guy isn't sitting at his own desk. When the desk's real owner turned up, he wouldn't move. Nothing will tear him away from his woman's side! Then he got crumbs all over the desk. That's not nice.

In the week that I was away, I missed the short Spanish woman's birthday and a Chinese woman's birthday too. I fancy them both, and I missed out on a chance to impress them with a witty comment in a birthday card. Rats.

Actually, I hate writing stuff in office birthday cards. I just say "Have a great day" and that's all.

I think sexual and romantic relationships among coworkers should be carefully avoided: they hurt, lead you to hate your job when they end and even in best cases they alter your personal production rates.

Well, I'll keep everyone updated on what happens betwen them.

Talking about signing birthday cards, there was one woman who had a birthday and her leaving day on consecutive days, so two cards went round the office for everyone to sign. I got confused and wrote "Good Luck for the future" in her birthday card and "Have a great day" in her leaving card.

I felt a bit stupid once I'd realised what I'd done.
